Protest your taxes. It is a privilege to own property, isn't it? Also, it is great fun!  But, with privilege and fun, come responsibilities which include not being overtaxed!!!

Visit your appraisal district's website for information.  And, as an example, TEA (Taxpayers for equal appraisal) suggests that you go to the Harris County Appraisal District's (HCAD) website.

If you wish to learn more about how Harris County Appraisal District operates, you can go to the HCAD web site and view forms.
http://www.hcad.org/Downloads/

However, your TEA will provide HCAD's (Harris County Appraisal District) important Worksheet A for calculating unequal appraisal.  Contact the Harris County Appraisal District for its handy pamphlet, Protesting Unequal Appraisal.$

Call HCAD's public Information & Research Center:
(Ms. Kelly Sherbert at 713-957-7873),
or

Call HCAD'S Customer Service Director:
(Roland Altinger at 713-957-5670)

free copy of Protesting Unequal Appraisal.$

We recommend the handy pamphlet for your review.  Keep in mind that in reading this pamphlet, (which pamphlet was written by Harris County Appraisal District, you will feel intimidated!!! Do not worry.  You have the law on your side!
