"However
a uniform State Appraisal Manual that is the one to be used in all State
Appraisal Districts incorporated with a special legal opinion division
within the office of the Attorney General that shall provide consistent
Attorney General property tax opinions to all taxpayers and any other
entity in the State of Texas will be a winning combination for Texas and
all Texans"!
Excerpt from Mr. Robinson's Reply
March 14, 2000
"I do not disagree with the notion of issuing a
new General Appraisal Manual for Texas, and was, in fact, one of the
corporate authors of the original manual published by the State Property
Tax Board. Likewise, I would have no objection to the Attorney
General providing consistent opinions on property tax-related legal
questions, provided the State of Texas was willing to fund the cost of
defending those opinions at the appraisal district level in the event
there were challenges by a taxpayer or taxing unit.
Sincerely,
ss/Jim Robinson
